Date produces a wide variety of vegetables by taking advantage of the warm climate throughout the four seasons and the good drainage of volcanic ash soil. It is one of the leading agricultural areas in Hokkaido, where spring vegetables can be harvested and shipped a little earlier than those of other areas, and has enough winter vegetables to keep up with demand during the cold thanks to in-house cultivation.
